Tshikwalo Game Lodge is situated +/- 120km North of Roodepoort and part of the greater Dinokeng Game Reserve. A quick weekend away for a wedding in the bush never hurts. Good friends of ours, now staying in Australia decided on this venue for their South African Bush wedding and Tshikwalo did not disappoint.

Our time for game drives and game viewing was very limited but we took some time on Saturday to go on a self-drive to see what we could sample from the African Bush. It was hot, dry and very dusty as the area hasn’t seen rain for a long time and now waiting for the spring / summer rains to come.

The best time for viewing game is not between 11h00 and 13h00 and rather early morning or late afternoon when it is a bit cooler … but we set off with a map of the area, cameras locked and loaded. Below is a gallery of the birds and other game / bush creatures we could find.

We had a lovely stay and an awesome wedding, great seeing lots of familiar faces and meeting up with old (not age) friends. All in all a very LEKKER weekend. We would recommend Tshikwalo Lodge to anyone looking for a Bush break-away close to home (Gauteng area) …. hope you enjoy the photos.
